Palm Springs

A tumultuous summer for the Dowells, to say the least! My sweet wife got a position as I.S. at another school, leaving the school she has called home for the last 13 years. One of the first things she had to do as an I.S. for her new school was go to a dual-language immersion conference in Palm Springs! The kids and I got to tag along. Have you even been to Palm Springs in the summer? It sucks!

Stepping outside is like dying. And I usually like the heat! The first day, the kids and I spent 5+ hours in the pool. Coming out only to eat, and then going back in. Late afternoon, we went back to the hotel room, napped and watched movies. Wifey was done with her conference, we went to dinner (pizza and frozen yogurt), then back in the pool until 10pm, when they shut it down!

Frozen Yogurt!

Next day, I took the kids on an expedition to the Living Desert zoo. Here's a preview of how it went:

The Big O complained like that for the next hour. Couldn't really blame him, it was REALLY hot, even at 10 am.

Finally, a cool drink in the cafe.
